At the Grand Turk port there is a land-based Flowrider that you can ride for a fee (sorry, it’s not free!). If you have kids or teens, it’s definitely something they’ll want to check out. Carnival Cruise Lines developed the cruise port in 2006 to showcase the tiny island’s magnificent beaches and Colonial heritage. It is one of the only places in the Caribbean where you can enjoy the island’s best beaches, steps from the cruise ship, and with hundreds of complimentary lounge chairs. There are many guided snorkeling tours offered, and you can book them online, through your cruise line, or with local tour vendors. These guided tours will introduce you to the world of stingrays, where you can swim alongside them, feed them, and even hold them.

Sitting roughly 600 miles southeast of Miami and about 350 miles northwest of Puerto Rico, Grand Turk enjoys a spot that’s a world away and nestled in some of the most beautiful water on the planet. I am the creator of an e-book “Mediterranean Cruise Port Guide“, the most comprehensive guide to 45 Mediterranean cruise ports, & YouTube channel @AdventourBegins. As you explore the exhibits, you’ll come across a fascinating collection of artifacts, photographs, and displays that offer an exciting glimpse into the islands’ history. Gain a deeper understanding of the cultural history that has shaped the Turks and Caicos and appreciate the stories that have created the fabric of these remarkable islands.

If you are undecided on whether to stay on the beach the whole day or ongoing on some light water activity like snorkeling, then head over to pillory beach, which has the best snorkeling spots. If you are up for an active excursion, book paddle boarding, and kayaking excursions and explore the clear waters of the peaceful north creek. The kayaks have a clear bottom that lets you view the action under the water. The best thing about excursions on Grand Turk whether provided by cruise lines or local tour operator is the guides who are very professional and put your safety first. Other shopping areas are located at the cruise center, where you can get t-shirts, alcohol, jewelry, and trinkets. Other restaurants like the Sandbar restaurant and Salt Raker Inn offer seafood and continental cuisines.

Popular souvenirs are sea salts, conch shells, and natural sea sponges. At 170 years old, the picturesque 60 feet tall tower is flanked by fantastic scenery that will knock your socks off and is the most famous landmark on the island! Visit Grand Turk cruise port and discover a slice of paradise that will leave you refreshed and filled with happiness. There are no hotel resorts and no tourism developed at all, except for three restaurants where you can taste delicious seafood and catch of the day.
It’s beautiful, wide, and runs a nice distance so there is a spot for everyone and it’s free. However, its popularity can mean it gets crowded, especially close to the ship. The first thing that you’ll notice when you visit the Grand Turk port is that your ship is close to the beach… as in real close. The dock sits out only about 400 feet from shore, meaning the ship towers over the port area. Explore the fascinating history of the salt industry in Grand Turk, a significant industry from the 1600s to the early 1900s.
In the Cruise Center, near Margaritaville, you’ll find a self-contained water attraction called the FlowRider. High-pressure water jets shoot a thin layer of water moving over a cushioned surface creating an artificial wave perfect for surfing, bodyboarding, or kneeboarding. If you love to shop-until-you-drop, the Cruise Center is a convenient location with many unique offerings.

Inevitably there are only a few excursions to explore farther inland and just a few activities to enjoy. Enjoy direct beachfront access and a first class facility nestled among 18 acres of landscaped grounds. You will have the opportunity to do some duty-free shopping, grab a bite to eat or simply relax on our white sand beach or by the pool. The Grand Turk Cruise Center is home to one of the largest swimming pools in the Caribbean. There is no charge to use the swimming pool and loungers, but it is “first come-first serve” and a popular attraction for cruisers. Grand Turk is the largest of the Turks Islands that make up Turks and Caicos.
Here are our choices for Turks and Caicos shore excursions that include a beach. What’s really nice about the Grand Turk cruise port is that there is no tender. The cruise ships let you off at the Grand Turk Cruise Center and you just walk right through. As you enter the Grand Turk cruise center you’ll see there is plenty to do. The cruise port has direct access to 2 cruise center beaches and a Grsand Turk Margaritaville with music, cocktails, dining, and cabanas.
The only lighthouse in the country, this beautiful (albeit not very large) structure is the main historical attraction on Grand Turk. Don’t miss out on the scenic coastal path that leads along the cliffs north of the lighthouse. Please keep in mind that if more than one cruise ship is docked here, things can get very hectic. Discover the incredible underwater world of Turks and Caicos through scuba diving, considered one of the best diving destinations in the world. It’s an experience that combines history, adventure, and natural wonder, all just a 20-minute cab ride from the Grand Turk port.
The beautiful Cruise Center Beach fronts the complex, and is one of the nicest cruise port beaches in the region. Start by visiting the cruise port; grab a bite from Margaritaville, then head on over to sunray beach for a day of sun and splashing. The best thing about all this is that unlike some cruise ports, all the beaches in Grand Turk are public and free to explore. If you happen to visit this beautiful island during the winter months of January to April, you can go on a humpback whale excursion.
There are private air-conditioned pool cabanas available to rent through your cruise line. However, there are no towels provided, so be sure to bring your own from the ship. Many passengers will enjoy their entire port day at Grand Turk within the Cruise Center.
This hidden gem is located a few yards from the pier, at the end of cruise center beach. It’s less crowded than Margaritaville and other food joints located near the pier. The lighthouse is located north of the cruise port center, and you can access it only by vehicular means.
